This catalog purports to answer all the questions that a manager might have when assigned the job of hiring new employees to do data entry. Two very stern looking managers are shown asking questions such as "How do I slect successful operators? or How can I get more productivity out of our present system?. The answer, evidently, lies in posters, brochures, pictures, consulting services and a 275 page book that includes, "12 how-to reports on all aspects of Data Entry -- To Help you make Data Entry more fun and productive." Fun data entry?...Good luck on that!

This particular catalog ad was sent to Fidelity & Deposit Company on Charles and Lex Streets in Baltimore. It is stamped, "Received March 30, 1978". On cannot help but wonder if the data entry employees at Fidelity learned the fun way to entry data.

I did a little research and the headquarters for the Fidelity & Deposit Company was on Charles and Lexington Sts. It is a magnificent looking 15 story granite building that was built in 1894 and survived the Great Baltimore Fire of 1904. Unfortunately, the in late March 2022, it was sold for conversion to apartments...almost 44 years to the day after getting their catalog to fun data entry.

This short catalog included several drawings of early data entry from the Hollerith era. Although one of the drawings is of a telephone operator class learning how to use a switchboard.
